Los Mochis, Sinaloa
Los Mochis is a very young city, created just at the beginning of the last century, so it lacks colonial history. To go back to its beginnings we have to first speak of Ahome (municipality of which it is head), which have their origins the 15 of August of 1605 when the town of Ahome was founded by the missionary Father Perez de Ribas. Three hundred years later, Ahome receives the title of directorate when "The Valley of the Fort" is cataloged like city (1906). But its inhabitants did not agree with it, since they believed that the great growth of Ahome made it candidate to be an independent municipality, reason why after several attempts, a December 20, 1916, by Decree of the Local Legislature, Is created the municipality of Ahome, which years later led as head of the city of Los Mochis.
